SEPTEMBER 13, 1994:
Motion #45-01:
The Faculty Senate joins with the UFF in endorsing the FIU Scholarship Referendum and will issue a public statement to the university community indicating its joint support.
OCTOBER 25, 1994:
Motion #45-02:
The Faculty Senate approves Curriculum Committee Bulletin #1 with the following changes:
1. HIS 6XXX - Historiography - new description: An introduction to the discipline of history, with primary and secondary readings allowing exploration of the evolution of historical schools of thought over several generations. Prerequisite(s): Graduate Standing.
2. Temporarily deleted pending resolution: SPA 3XXX - Introduction to American Sign Language, SPA 4XXX - Intermediate American Sign Language, and NGR 5XXX - Women and Health
Motion #45-03:
The Faculty Senate approves the Implementation Proposal for a Ph.D. in History
Motion #45-04:
The Faculty Senate approves Feasibility Proposal for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Women's Studies.
Motion #45-05:
The Faculty Senate approves the modification of the appointment procedure to the Research Integrity Committee.
Motion #45-06:
The Faculty Senate approves the following four candidates for inclusion in the 1994-95 Honorary Degree Pool:Judy Drucker, patron of the arts. Cal Kovens, developer, entrepreneur, patron of the arts, philanthropist, South Fla. leader. Martin Z. Margulies, prominent Miami businessman and patron of the arts. Hazel O'Leary, Secretary, United States Department of Energy.
NOVEMBER 15, 1994:
MOTION #45-07:
The Faculty Senate approves all material in University Curriculum Bulletin #2 that does not involve the Graduate or Undergraduate Councils except for temporary withdrawal of URS 6155, Quantitative Methods and Analysis, pending resolution of an objection.
MOTION #45-08:
The Faculty Senate approves the following courses from Curriculum Committee Bulletin #1:
SPA 3xxx New Title: American Sign Language for Teachers I - New Description: Provides introductory training in basic ASL signs and historical and cultural information about the "deaf culture" for teachers. Two hrs./wk. of lab required.
SPA 4xxx New Title: American Sign Language for Teachers II - New Description: Provides intermediate training in ASL signs and additional information about "deaf culture" for teachers. Two hrs./wk. of lab required.
MOTION #45-09:
The Faculty Senate approves the MA in Religious Studies.
DECEMBER 6, 1994:
Motion #45-10:
The Faculty Senate approves the Master of Science in Mass Communication Track in Spanish-Language Journalism with Emphasis in Investigative Reporting.
Motion #45-11:
The Faculty Senate approves the following course from Bulletin Number 1: NGR 5XXX - New Title: Women and Health: A Nursing Perspective.
Motion #45-12:
The Faculty Senate approves the following faculty members to serve on the Research Integrity Committee:

:The Faculty Senate approves upon recommendation from the Graduate Council, the Executive MBA Track with the present MBA degree.
Motion #45-14:
The Faculty Senate approves Curriculum Committee Bulletin #3 in its entirety.
Motion #45-15:
The Faculty Senate approves upon recommendation from the Honorary Degree and Awards Committee, of William Henry "Bill" Turner for inclusion in the 1994-95 Honorary Degree Pool.
Motion #45-16:
The Faculty Senate approves State Senator William Turner as a possible Honorary Degree candidate.
February 14, 1995:
Motion #45-17:
The Faculty Senate accepts in concept the grading scale proposed by the Student Government Association for all currently enrolled and future students.
March 7, 1995:

The Faculty Senate nominates Lorraine Gay to fill the vacancy on the Research Integrity Committee
Motion #45-19:
The Faculty Senate approves Curriculum Committee Bulletin No. 4 which includes the resolution to an objection from Bulletin No. 2, URS 6155.

The Faculty Senate approves the Proposal for Planning/Feasibility Study for a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.

Motion #45-23:
The Faculty Senate approves the 1995-96 Academic University Calendar including the changes in Spring Break dates requested by the Administration.
Motion #45-24:
The Chairperson of the Faculty Senate shall appoint a committee of at least five faculty members which shall develop a new set of protocols for investigative allegations of research misconduct. The committee will work with the Provost and the University Council and report back to the Faculty Senate.
April 18, 1995
Motion #45-25:
The Faculty Senate urges the University to rescind the policy of requiring sponsoring organizations to pay for the cost of security for political and/or other controversial speakers.
Motion #45-26:
The Faculty Senate approves Curriculum Committee Bulletin #5 with the following changes: p.12, EGN 2XXX, Engineering Systems II. Add to the prerequisite: PHY 3049. P. 15, HSC 3XXX Clinical Physiology for Health Professionals, New description: Clinical pathological aspects of homeostatic mechanisms, skin, muscle, contraction, nervous system, gastrointestinal system, body temperature regulation and exercise physiology will be targeted toward the allied health student. New prerequisite: one semester of Human Physiology or equivalent.

The Faculty Senate approves the new track in the B.B.A. degree, Major in Entrepreneurship. (Undergraduate Council)
Motion #45-28:
The Faculty Senate approves the implementation proposal for a B.A. in Women's Studies. (Undergraduate Council)
Motion #45-29:
The Faculty Senate approves the feasibility proposal for an MS in Environmental Studies. (Graduate Council)
Motion #45-30:
