Excellence in Advising and Mentorship
Description
This award recognizes excellence in two categories: distinguished contributions in undergraduate advising and outstanding work with graduate students. Three awards will be given.
Eligibility
Full time members of the faculty with at least three years of full time service before the year nominated.
For previous winners, at least five years must have lapsed before new nomination.
Documentation
Curriculum Vitae: A CV of no more than four pages.
Professional Statement: A statement of up to 500 words by the nominee of the qualities that most distinguish the candidate’s advising/mentorship accomplishments and record.
Student List: A list of student names, dissertation/thesis titles and dates of student completion while on the faculty at FIU with any honors those students have won.
Supporting Letters: The file should contain three to five letters of support that speak directly to the candidate’s merit as advisor/mentor
The committee prefers substantive nomination letters from colleagues or supervisors, but in a university tradition, it also accepts self-nominations.
